Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for overseeing all production activities on the second shift within a wood furniture manufacturing facility. This role ensures that manufacturing operations run efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards. The supervisor leads, trains, and supports a team of production workers, ensures adherence to schedules, resolves production issues, and communicates with management regarding performance and process improvements.

 

 

Job Duties:

• Supervise and coordinate second-shift production activities across multiple departments (e.g., assembly, sanding, finishing).

• Monitor workforce performance to ensure daily production goals are met in quality, safety, and output.

• Support onboarding and cross-training of employees, focusing on skill development and continuous improvement.

• Communicate clearly with first and third shifts to ensure smooth transition of work and minimize downtime.

• Enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring a clean, hazard-free work environment.

• Conduct daily shift startup meetings and maintain clear documentation of production reports, incidents, and shift activities.

• Troubleshoot operational issues, collaborate with maintenance, and recommend process improvements.

• Monitor material availability and collaborate with inventory and logistics teams to minimize disruption.

• Address employee concerns professionally and escalate personnel issues to Human Resources or upper management as needed.

• Lead by example to maintain a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork.

 

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training preferred.

• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in wood furniture or a similar industry.

• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and safety compliance.

• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, shop drawings, and work orders.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems (e.g., ERP or MES).
