Shipping Associate (1st Shift)
Job Description
We are seeking a Shipping Associate for an established company in the Grand Rapids, MI area who will coordinate, perform, and/or monitor assigned activities as required to maximize the services supporting the company.
Job Duties of the Shipping Associate:
Prepare outgoing shipment paperwork including packing list and bill of lading
Coordinate freight carriers for shipment of orders
Schedule large shipments and plan logistics
Keep files of goods shipped by preparing regular shipping reports
Handle issues arising in shipping
Troubleshoot shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them
Load merchandise by lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods
Skills and Qualifications of the Shipping Associate:
Experience in a shipping coordinator position
Experience with creating bills of lading, packing lists and commercial invoices
Must be able to stand for 8+ hours a day.
Strong computer skills
Know what LTL "less-than-truckload" and FTL "full truckload means.
