Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Manager for an established company in the Muskegon, MI area who will be accountable for planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the Quality Control Department to ensure product conformance to customer specifications in the most effective, economical manner. This position is responsible for the overall coordination of the quality-related activities in the plant.

Job Duties of the Quality Manager:

  • Work with suppliers to resolve product problems and assure compliance
  • Track supplier issues and reports quality performance.
  • Develop and implement systems, procedures, methods and controls to ensure purchased materials, services, and final products conform to quality standards.
  • Communicate customer requirements ensuring that the Companies systems are in compliance and initiate actions when required.
  • Review new product specifications and determine process assurance procedures necessary to meet new specifications.
  • Lead onsite customer audits.
  • Recommend gages, test equipment, inspection procedures, and methods to minimize quality costs and improve quality through prevention of defects.
  • Track and report customer complaints, PPM and response timeliness. Maintain charts, graphs and statistical records having to do with the quality, nature and causes of defects.
  • Conduct and/or manage studies to determine cause, effect, and corrective measures required to remedy deviations impairing desirable standards of quality.
  • Assure compliance and maintenance of the registered quality systems of the Company (currently TS16949 and ISO14001).
  • Assure compliance and maintenance of the Ford Q1 status.
  • Act as the Management Representative for quality systems.
  • Ensure that external and internal audits are conducted according to schedule and that non-conformances are corrected in an effective and timely fashion.
  • Adhere to, periodically review, and update the Administrator Procedures and Quality Assurance Manual as needed.


Skills and Qualifications of the Quality Manager:

  • 5-8 years direct experience in quality control management, preferably in a spring environment.
  • Degree in Quality Engineering or related field. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
  • Experience in Automotive industry a must.
  • In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards.
  • Ability to analyze and solve all types of quality problems.
  • Ability to administer SPC techniques.
  • Ability to delegate and control departmental activities, and to support and administer company policy.
  • Ability to negotiate difficult issues with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multi-projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • IATF Experience
