Job Description

Manufacturing facility on the Northside of Jacksonville is hiring for a Production Manager for 2nd shift. Monday to Thursday 4pm -2:30am - Must be willing to do overtime as needed.

This is a direct hire position.. Benefits start day 1.

  • Pay: $85,000 per year

Job Description/Key Responsibilities

  • Know the basic fundamentals of all production departments; learn & understand the types of filters made in each and where & how they are used

  • Help ensure that all departments are run efficiently with a minimum amount of overtime but with adequate personnel coverage to ensure that quoted (or better) delivery dates are met

  • Read and understand production reports and schedules; this is critical for planning production

  • Serve as back-up to dept Supervisors for scheduling production from the production reports

  • Cross-train on plant positions as required by PM; review the BWPs of jobs on which cross-trained

  • Help monitor the training progress & performance of all new-hires, in-house transferees, & cross-trainers so that in the PM's absence, you can help Supervisors rotate EEs in order to promote flexibility of the plant's work force

  • Help monitor & document employees' overall performances so that you can help conduct twice-yearly employee performance evaluations as/when needed

  • Help direct employees, assist with their needs, & make general production/personnel decisions as needed

  • Be proactive in anticipating/identifying/resolving manufacturing's needs, as well as the needs of the EEs

  • Help Supervisors, PM, QC, & Shipping resolve customer service issues

  • Maintain good communication with 1st & 2nd shift supervisors, PM, HR, support staff, and Maintenance

  • Be flexible to changes in organizational and facility-level procedures

  • Work with departments to make every effort to eliminate material waste while maintaining product-quality

  • Work with PM, dept Supervisors, Support staff, & Maintenance to help control and lower operating costs

  • 2nd shift: Oversee the Lean-team & Lean events, Lead shift meetings which may include HR-related and company-policy updates & changes

  • Help keep the overall facility & its work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards

  • Comply-with & help enforce all Company & Safety policies; work w/Safety personnel & Supervisors to ensure that all safety rules are followed & that all EEs are trained in proper & safe practices

  • Be aware of and enforce LOCK-OUT/TAG-OUT; recognize LOTO-situations & understand general LOTO

  • Assist in ensuring the facility is secure and safe during operation and at close of shift [doors, locks, alarms]

  • Have strong verbal & written communication skills; job requires sharing info & working closely with others

  • Be able to read, write, and speak English; bilingual in English & Spanish is helpful but not required

  • Have above-average math skills- addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division are used often

  • Have intermediate-to-advanced computer skills or the ability to further develop current skills

  • Have exceptional interaction-skills for working with employees, Supervisors, Maintenance, & other Leadership

  • Have strong leadership skills- motivate and teach/coach others on product-quality, cost-savings, etc

  • Have excellent time-management skills; be able to properly prioritize tasks

  • Be able to work alone, with a partner, or on a team- under minimal supervision- while following the guidelines & directives of the Plant Manager

  • Be able to multi-task & quickly shift focus as necessary- job requires performing multiple tasks concurrently in what can sometimes be a fast-paced environment

  • Have above-average follow-through on all projects and assignments given by the PM

  • Be careful, cautious, & precise when documenting & reporting personnel & production matters

  • Be able to read, write, & understand fractions to 1/16" and able to read a tape measure to 1/16"

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs alone- unless otherwise specified; co-workers and lifts are available to lift, load, or transport heavier materials & items

  • Be able to walk, stand, bend, & reach a majority of the work day- unless otherwise specified

Job Standards

Provide leadership that encourages production staff in all departments plant-wide to meet or exceed the company's production standards for all jobs in all departments- as posted in all departments. Also assist PM in monitoring housekeeping for an organized & safe working environment.
