Quality Control Inspector – Rotating Equipment

Jacksonville, FL
Pay Range: $30 - $33 per hour (dependent upon experience)
Shift: Monday - Friday

Direct Hire | Full-Time

 

Position Summary

We are IMMEDIATELY seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our team and support quality assurance efforts across machining, fabrication, and repair projects. In this role, you will be responsible for performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections, verifying dimensions and tolerances, maintaining accurate documentation, and working closely with machinists, welders, mechanics, and engineers to ensure quality standards are consistently met.

 

A significant portion of our work involves the inspection and verification of rotating equipment components used in power generation and heavy industrial applications. Candidates with experience inspecting turbine parts, bearings, weldments, or other high-precision components are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection and Measurement

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on turbine parts, bearings, weldments, and machined components

  • Use precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and surface finish gauges

  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and material conditions against engineering drawings and specifications

  • Inspect welds for quality, conformity, and compliance with AWS or customer standards

 

Documentation and Recordkeeping

  • Complete inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of measurements, heat numbers, material certifications, and traceability requirements

  • Ensure compliance with quality management and documentation systems

 

Quality Assurance and Process Control

  • Work closely with machinists, welders, mechanics, and engineers to address quality concerns

  • Identify recurring issues and assist with root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and reduce scrap

  • Verify proper setup of machines and fixtures when needed to prevent dimensional errors

 

Material and Certification Verification

  • Validate that all material matches required grades, heat lot numbers, and certifications

  • Confirm correct usage of customer-specified coatings, treatments, and finishing processes

 

Tools and Equipment

  • Maintain calibration of inspection tools and gauges

  • Ensure measuring equipment is stored, handled, and used properly

 

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Standard full-time schedule

  • Overtime may be required depending on workload, outage schedules, or customer deadlines

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in machining, fabrication, turbine component inspection, or similar QC role

  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, and tolerances

  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment

  • Basic understanding of welding standards and inspection practices

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, job travelers, and specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

  • Experience in power generation, turbine repair, or rotating equipment environments strongly preferred

  • Preferred experience inspecting turbine blades, combustion components, rotating assemblies, or bearing tolerances

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs occasionally

  • Standing, walking, or inspecting parts for extended periods

  • Ability to work around machining, welding, and fabrication equipment
