We are seeking a Cutter / Machine Operator for an established company in the Cookeville, TN area who will be responsible for cutting tubing in order length, as well as operating the cutting machine and checking product that is cut in the machine.

Schedule: Sunday thru Thursday, 10pm to 6am

Job Duties of the Cutter / Machine Operator:

• Cut tubing to length.

• Perform visual inspection of parts to identify burrs, damage, and color standards. 

• Load and unload machines.

• Observe machine operation to detect defects or machine malfunction and report problems to the supervisor.

• Perform and document quality checks each time they are due on the Cutter Log Form.  

• Reference the production schedule and verify the product prints/specification forms each time a new product is started. 

• Perform changeover setup for different cut lengths on the cutter.

• Assure that the cutting knife is kept in sharp condition to avoid burrs on the edges of tubing.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Assist training new employees.

Skills and Qualifications of the Cutter / Machine Operator:

• High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

• Six months’ previous experience in a manufacturing environment or technical school, preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to correctly follow a rule or a basic set of rules, i.e. follow work instructions.

• Basic date entry and computer skills.

• Must be able to perform basic shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

• Must be able to effectively communicate in English for safety and direction.

• Must have good vision/attention to detail.

• Must be able to stand / walk for long periods of time operating and tending to machines.

• Must be able to bend, stretch, twist.

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

• Must be a team player who supports other team members when needed.

• Must have good mechanical aptitude.
