Job Description

We are seeking an Engineer Manager for a manufacturing facility in Wisconsin. 

 

Plan and direct all aspects of vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) engineering activities within the organization. Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives. Oversee the design of products such as electric and mechanical lifting systems, hydraulic lifting systems, conveyors, safety enclosures, safety gates, etc.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term strategies and operation policies to achieve established departmental goals and objectives.

  • Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.

  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, code requirements and related specifications.

  • Communicate with customers to determine needs and applications relative to special installations and adaptations.

  • Responsible for assuring that products are priced correctly and produce the required gross margin.

  • Responsible for resolving engineering problems involving manufacturing, installation, code compliance, and operation of equipment.

  • Oversee the preparation of design calculations.

  • Review staff designs and make recommendations to improve design, reduce cost or increase production efficiency.

  • Develop more complex layouts and designs using 2D and 3D computer aided design software.

 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

  • Seven years related engineering experience with vertical reciprocating conveyors (VRC) or similar product(s).

  • Prior experience leading a team, which includes decision making responsibility for hiring and performance management.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with customers effectively.

  • Familiarity with drive trains, motors and hydraulic systems.

  • Working knowledge of drafting/detailing principles.

  • Experience in using 3D modeling software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Occasional travel (approximately 5%) may be required.
