Job Description
We are seeking an Engineering Manager for an established company in the Jacksonville, FL area.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the equipment group in inspecting, testing, and overseeing the production of equipment and performing extensive and complex repairs and upgrades on equipment issues. In addition, the Engineering Manager is responsible for evaluating, inspecting, maintaining, designing, analyzing, and improving various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery in the facility, checking the production line regularly, assigning work to other equipment employees, and preparing plans for the equipment maintenance, modifications, and upgrades.
Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:
- Maintain a safe working environment and employee safety.
- Interface with EHS, Production, Process Engineering, Quality, and Facilities to improve workplace safety.
- Manage the changes in equipment status and significant anomalies/corrective actions.
- Lead and supervise up to 35 people including Engineers and Maintenance Technicians in a 24/7 production environment.
- Provide 24/7 support for troubleshooting equipment.
- Develop improvements to increase equipment reliability and scalability.
- Monitor equipment performance and provide enhancements.
- Develop equipment specifications and manuals for current and next-generation solar cell products.
- Maintain documentation for equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Test and approve new equipment before handing it off to production.
- Advance cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and productivity.
- Conduct and assist in technical training for equipment and production employees.
- Act as primary contact for equipment performance-related issues and concerns.
- Evaluate procedures, identify potential failures, and establish daily/monthly reporting.
- Verify that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adequately prepared to safely and efficiently support maintenance efforts.
- Verify spare parts program operates effectively and efficiently.
- Plan equipment events and monthly maintenance cycles.
- Cooperate with internal and external audits, regulations, ISO Standards, GMPs, QFS, 5P, etc.
- Communicate and cooperate with vendors and technical support staff
Qualifications / Requirements of the Engineering Manager:
- Engineering degree from ABET-accredited College or higher, electrical or mechanical engineering majors preferred, a master s degree is desired.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational/prioritization skills.
- Design software experience preferred (AUTOCAD, PRO-E, Inventor, Solidworks, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving and project management skills.
- Ability to be an essential technical resource.
- At least five years of related working experience and at least two years of managerial experience with progressive roles and responsibilities in the manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of leading professionals and hourly skilled employees in a complex industrial environment.
