Job Description

We are seeking a Tool & Die Repair Technician for an established company in the Norton Shores, MI area. Primary responsibilities can include but are not limited to: analyzing specifications; laying out metal stock; setting up and operating machine tools; and fitting/assembling parts to repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools

 

Job Duties of the Tool & Die Repair Tech:

  • Troubleshoot and repair the dies in a stamping press and within the toolroom.

  • Set and assemble details to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machines and hand tools.

  • Spot and polish details for nesting of parts and high wear surfaces with the use of die grinders.

  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

 

Skills and Qualifications of the Tool & Die Repair Tech:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 4 years of experience with trade school or relevant experience 

  • Active Journeyman card (preferred).

  • Must have knowledge of tool steels for building, repairing, and welding components (TIG/MIG).

  • Must have knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, sketches, and models

  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions.

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs

  • Must be able to stand for 8+ hours a day
