Job Description
1. GENERAL SUMMARY
This full time salary exempt position is responsible for the formulation and development of the company s product software in a manner that produces top quality source code. The incumbent will function as part of a design team that creates the company s future products while solving current product problems. The incumbent will work in a professional manner consistent with producing high quality designs, which meet customer requirement in the shortest possible time. Occasional domestic travel is required. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering.
2. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, test and document Embedded software programs for computer products to achieve assigned objectives.
Formulate accurate project design time, cost estimates and resource estimates for assigned objectives.
Provide creative input and new product or existing product ideas to the organization.
Insist in high quality; lowest cost designs that meet customer requirements.
Evaluate competitive equipment and systems to provide assistance in identifying competitive advantages.
Perform projects as assigned.
3. Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education: A Bachelor s of Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical & Industry Experience:
Experience in full software life cycle desired
The ability to write in C and C++ in an embedded environment.
Formulate accurate project timelines and estimates for original objectives
Maintain a working knowledge of new developments in the software field.
A basic understanding of digital and analog circuit design.
Experience with embedded operating systems.
Maintain knowledge of Weights and Measures requirements.
The ability to complete tasks assigned with minimal supervision.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform Boolean math. Ability to perform Algebraic, geometric and advanced mathematic calculations.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions. Ability to write and understand complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and talk; must be able to reach for, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee may frequently be required to bend, kneel, twist, and turn. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. If lifting more than 45 lbs must get assistance from another employee or use a lift cart/truck. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level is limited and does not require hearing protection or personal protective devices.
